Brett Kinneman’s resurgence continued, and Joe Dunand dropped his 11th bomb of the year, as NC State dropped Florida State 8-4 to take its second ACC series of the season. The Pack improved to 18-15 overall and 7-8 in league play with the series win against a top 25 Seminoles squad.

Kinneman, who went 3-for-4, drove in a pair of runs to cap a four-run Pack first. The sophomore leftfielder also homered twice in the series opener.

Dunand’s 11th homer, in the bottom of the third, pushed the Pack advantage to 5-0.

Five runs were plenty for Michael Bienlien, who solidified his spot as a Sunday starter with six solid innings. The freshman allowed just three hits and two earned runs while walking two and fanning three.

Austin Staley labored through 2.2 innings, allowing three hits and three free passes that resulted in a pair of runs (only one of which was earned, thanks to a passed ball). Cody Beckman tossed gasoline on the fire by walking both men he faced in the ninth, but Dalton Feeney came on to get the game’s last out for his first career save.

State outhit Florida State 13-6. Dunand, Will Wilson, Josh McLain, and Andy Cosgrove each had two-hit games. Both of Wilson’s hits were doubles, and the freshman drove in a pair of runs.

The Pack host UNCG Tuesday before a road trip to rival North Carolina over the weekend. State climbed 11 spots in the RPI rankings to 57th with the win over FSU and certainly have an opportunity to take another step forward against the Heels, who rank 3rd.
