Latest NCAA baseball tournament projections have NC State in field, but just barely

A good series against Clemson would sure help a lot.

NC State did what it had to in order to get back into the tournament picture after getting swept by Boston College, but the Wolfpack is far from safely in at this point. State closes out the regular season with a series at home against Clemson that begins on Thursday night.

Baseball America’s latest field projections place NC State in host Kentucky’s regional as the No. 3 seed. Baseball America also has NC State as the last at-large team in the field. So, uh ... yeah. Could use a good weekend.

D1Baseball.com also has NC State in the field, though they have the Pack as the No. 3 seed in Florida’s regional.

Baseball America has seven ACC teams in the field, including fellow bubble member Florida State. The Wolfpack took a series from FSU earlier in the season, which could be a tiebreaker if the last spot happened to come down to those teams. Let’s hope NC State plays its way onto more solid footing rather than leaves a decision like that up to the committee, though.
