The Wolfpack Women are coming off a Sweet Sixteen appearance and they will begin this season with a top-20 ranking. NC State is No. 17 in the initial AP Poll, and also got a couple votes for the top 10, earning a No. 9 ranking from two pollsters.
That might be a tad optimistic, but no doubt Wes Moore’s club has the talent to put together another successful season. Kiara Leslie should be the leader on the offensive end and could be ready for an All-ACC type of season. Between Leslie and Ace Konig, State’s in good hands.
There are six teams ranked in this first poll, with the usual suspects at the top: Notre Dame is the preseason No. 1, while Louisville is ranked 5th. Syracuse checks in at No. 18, Duke is 21st, and Miami ranks 25th.
The Wolfpack Women have an exhibition game Thursday, then open the regular season at home against Belmont on Nov. 7.
