Week 6 Football: What to watch

The week kicks off with a fun match-up of two really bad teams (Georgia Southern @ South Alabama), followed closely by a Thursday night game in Greenville that should be interesting. NC State needs ECU to win that game (plus a Pirates win would add insult to Maryland, so that would be fun), but this game has the potential of Temple running away with it.

Friday has two very fun games on deck, one that should be very well-played (UCF @ Cincy) and one that should just be a fun sloppy mess of bad, but entertaining, football (New Mexico @ SJSU).

If you’re not seeing a lot of ACC games listed, it’s because six of the 14 teams are on byes this week, so that’s fun. Of those playing, who would have thought Louisville would be favored in a conference game this year? I’d also like to take a moment to congratulate Georgia Tech on being the first ACC team to hit triple digits in a ranking this year. Bravo, bees!

For some reason all the good Saturday games are in the noon and mid-day time slots. The evening round of games is basically Michigan State @ Ohio State, distantly followed by Pitt @ Duke, and then a bunch of games that should be really one-sided. Seriously, I wouldn’t even have listed any others if not for not wanting feel weird with just two games listed with post-4:30pm kickoffs.

In the earlier games, though, you have a bunch of great match-ups to choose from. So cook the significant other breakfast, send them out of the house to do whatever the hell they want for seven or eight hours, and then tell them you’ll take them to a late dinner.
