NC State guard Eric Lockett charged with misdemeanor assault on a woman, suspended from basketball team

NCAA Basketball: Virginia at N.C. State Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

Wednesday night we were blindsided by the absences of both guard Eric Lockett and transfer forward Sacha Killeya-Jones, who were not on the bench for NC State’s game against Syracuse. Killeya-Jones is no longer on the team—reason still unknown—and Lockett is serving an indefinite suspension after being arrested and charged with a misdemeanor assault on a woman.

Joe Giglio and Simone Jasper of the N&O have the report. According to the arrest warrant for Lockett, he struck an ex-girlfriend in the face during an altercation at his apartment earlier this week.

WRAL spoke to the woman in question, Saskia Guilbaud, over the phone this morning, and she describes a pretty disturbing incident, even while asking for the charges against Lockett to be dropped.

Lockett turned himself in to police early Thursday morning and has since been released. There is no chance that he’ll be playing for NC State while this legal matter is still pending.
