Notre Dame veteran guard Rex Pflueger (the ‘P’ is silent but the ‘Flue’ you yell at the top of your lungs) is likely a game-time decision on Wednesday because of a bone bruise in his knee, per head coach Mike Brey.
Pflueger, who has been at Notre Dame since its founding, returned this season after suffering an ACL tear last year. The bone bruise is apparently a side effect of an injury like that, though he’s been able to start every game for the Irish this season.
But he’s had a rough season shooting the ball, maybe because of the knee: he’s hit only 24.4% of his three-point attempts. Still, he’s proven a solid outside threat in the past and as usual, the Irish are playing with a thin rotation, so they’d much rather have him than not. And yes I realize that by bringing up his shooting struggles I have opened the door for him to have a huge night, maybe even after his leg literally falls off. Let’s see what happens!
