As NC State’s women’s basketball profile grows on the court, so too does its reach in recruiting. The Wolfpack’s 2021 class was already outstanding, what with verbals from guards Aziaha James and Jessica Timmons, both top-50 prospects. Now State has a third.

Sophie Hart is a 6’5 post player from Farmington, Minnesota—she is the best player in the state, and according to ESPN the No. 40 overall prospect in the ‘21 class, a handful of spots ahead of Timmons. Hart averaged 17 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks per game as a junior and led her team to the state title game—the season was canceled right before that game was set to be played. (Now that’s brutal.)
Here’s one assessment of Hart from ESPN last summer:
Blue-collar low-post prospect brings skilled interior game, footwork, produces results; defensive presence in the block, rebounds and initiates the fast break; mobile in uptempo game; consistent workhorse on the boxes; continues as a stock-riser in the class of 2021.
Sounds good!
