Jada Boyd leads the Wolfpack to a win at Georgia Tech

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Oh my gracious Jada Boyd! What a performance in State's 84-75 win over Georgia Tech. In 24 minutes Jada had 26 points and 10 boards shooting 9-12 from the field. Jada also hit 8-9 free throws. With Boyd in the starting line-up or coming off the bench, State for sure is one of the best teams in the nation, if not the best-probably the best. If State does not stumble at Blacksburg on January 7th, the nationally televised ESPN match-up with Louisville on January 17th will be supermendous.

One has to wonder why it took Georgia Tech head Coach Nell Fortner so long to realize that Lorela Cubaj and Nerea Hermosa should be in the starting line-up and on the court together as much as possible. With those two playing together for extended minutes in the second half, Tech cut State's 54-25 half-time lead to 15 with 4:28 left in the third quarter. Of course State responded and pushed it back to 19 at the end of the third quarter. It takes a lot out of a team to make a super big comeback.

With Lotta-Maj Lahtinen (30 points), Cubaj and Hermosa in the starting line-up do we really want to play them again?

This from Richmond.com:

Jada Boyd, a 6-foot-2 junior forward for Appomattox Regional GS, scored a Virginia High School League-record 69 points in a 79-77 overtime loss at Franklin on Wednesday.

"She did it every kind of way possible," said ARGS coach Eric Brower. "It was an excellent all-around effort."

Boyd also grabbed a VHSL-record 33 rebounds for the Dragons. She went 12 of 21 from the foul line and made six 3-pointers, three of which came consecutively to end regulation and send the game to OT.

So is it any wonder?
