Volleyball: State 1; UNC 3

State's four match win streak came to a crashing halt in Chapel Hill Wednesday night as the Tarheels (16-4; 5-4) defeated the Wolfpack (11-9; 5-4) three sets to one.

It was clear from the get go of set one that the same State team that won four games in a row was not present in Chapel Hill. UNC raced out to a 9-0 lead as the Pack could not do anything right. UNC won the first set 25-11. The Pack did come back to win the second set 25-22 but then lost the third set 25-12 and the fourth set 25-22.

State had 42 kills to UNC's 63, 5 blocks to UNC's 5, and 15 errors to UNC's 17. So, in this instance of blocks and errors, State did as well or better than UNC. State had 39 assists to UNC's 60.

For State Melissa Evans had 13 kills while Jade Parchment had 12. Taylor Rowland had 10 kills. As for assists, Kristen McDaniel had 22 and Maggie Jones had 12.

State next host Duke with the match being Sunday at 4 p.m. ACC Network.
