State after winning 5 of 6 to make their record 7-5 lost three matches in a row to make their overall record 7-8 and their conference record 1-3. State had a nice run of 4 wins in a row which included match wins over Brown, Rutgers, NJIT and Georgia. After the Georgia win State lost to Arkansas three sets to none; followed that with a three sets to one win over Virginia; and followed that with three match loses (Pitt, FSU, Miami) wining only one set in that run, that set being over FSU.
State while managing to win set two at FSU, was not really competitive in that match. State was competitive in set one at Miami losing 32-30; however, sets two and three were 25-20 and 25-19 loses. Against FSU State did manage to win set two 25-24 as noted above, but lost set one 25-16, set three 25-12 (ouch!) and set four 25-21.
FSU had more blocks than State and more kills than State. FSU had 53 kills to State's 48 and FSU's top three blockers in the box score had 14 blocks to State's top three blockers in the box score who had 5. Against FSU, Melissa Evans, playing on the right side again, led State in kills with 18. Jade Parchment had 9. FSU had 12 errors to State's 25.
Same ol', same ol' against Miami. State had 21 errors to Miami's 12. Miami had 15 blocks to State's 3! State did manage to out kill Miami recording 52 to Miami's 46 with Melissa Evans getting 21 and Jade Parchment 9.
Next match for State is VaTech Friday, October 8th at 7p.m.
