For the first time in program history, the NC State women’s basketball team is a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament! The Wolfpack happened to be the very first team revealed during the selection show, so we did not have to sweat that for long.
State is the top seed in ther Mercado Region and will play No. 16 NC A&T. Texas A&M, which State jumped past in the pecking order after championship week, is the two-seed in this region. Here’s a look at the complete region:

As you can see there, NC State’s first game is set for Sunday at 4 p.m. ET, with coverage by ESPN. There are only two other power-conference schools in the top-half of the bracket, but plenty of familiar names in the bottom half, including presumably the top-rated two-seed in Texas A&M.
I got some research on this region to get to, but that’ll come after this celebration beer I just cracked. Big congrats to this Wolfpack team for the well-deserved No. 1 seed.
