Fresh off what can only be described as an underwhelming performance (well, except for the defense) at Mississippi State, the Wolfpack return home to the cozy confines of Carter-Finley Stadium to take on the Paladins of Furman University.
Furman has played the part of spoiler in Raleigh before, leaving the Oak City with wins in both 1984 and 1985. NC State then hired away Furman’s coach to put an end to all those shenanigans. Take that, FU! Incidentally, that kicked off a seven-year run under Dick Sheridan where the Pack notched 52 wins, the best seven-year win total (1986-1992) the program had until Dave Doeren matched it last year (Sheridan’s teams had eight fewer losses, though).
Will the Paladins step into Raleigh and notch yet another level-up victory? Or will the Wolfpack prove that the playbook is more than just a NASCAR “turn left” themed collection and get back in the Win column?
