Volleyball: State Loses to Arkansas 3-0

State (6-5) started set one very strong building an 8-1 lead. One might have thought that "this" was going to be easy. Then all of a sudden it was 10-10; then 14-10 Arkansas (9-2). State did take a 21-19 lead in set one again giving one hope for a set one win for State. Alas, Arkansas went on another run winning set one 25-21.

The above scoring references are indicative of how Arkansas rolled. Collegiate basketball analyst Clark Kellogg used the term "spurtability" to define a team's ability to score points quickly. That fits Arkansas's play. It was all in their ability to make serves which kept State's defense on its heels. Arkansas won set two 25-16 and set three 25-18.

State's Jade Parchment and Melissa Evans did not rack up many kills with Jade getting 10 and Melissa getting 5. Jada Allen had 7 kills for State. Maggie Jones again led State in Assists with 20.

State opens conference play Friday playing Virginia and then highly ranked Pitt (#4) Sunday. Pitt is picked to win the ACC.
