(State at Miami Sunday, January 9th, 2p.m., ACCN)

Of course I had already posted a pre-game analysis of State's game at Notre Dame when I learned that State was not traveling to Notre Dame instead traveling to Miami for a game to be played at the same time, and on the same station. This all due to Notre Dame going into Covid Protocol. The game at Notre Dame is postponed. Note that Miami was to play Louisville on January 9th, but Louisville is now in Covid Protocol so that game is also postponed.

State last played at Miami on December 20, 2020 notching a 78-47 victory. State has a losing record against Miami (10-11) and while State has won the last three contests, State lost three in a row from 2015-2018 and seven in a row from 2011 to 2014.

Miami's last game was a 47-46 loss to Wake Forest. In that game Miami started five-nine grad student Kelsey Marshall, five-four senior Mykea Gray, five-ten senior Karla Erjavec, six-four junior Lola Pendande and six-two senior Naomi Mbandu. Six-one junior Moulayna Johnson Sidi Baba got 23 minutes off the bench while five-nine freshman Ja'Leah Williams got 21.

Kelsey led Miami in scoring in the Wake game with 12 getting 7 of those points at the line. Kelsey shot 2-11 from the floor; 1-8 from the arc. Ja'Leah was second in scoring in that game hitting 5-10 shots for 10 points. Moulayna had 10 boards for Miami in the Wake game. Kelsey leads Miami in scoring at 14.2 ppg. Miami shoots 379 from the floor; 282 from the arc.

From warrennolan, Miami has an overall record of 7-4, has a conference record of 0-1, has a Live RPI of 152, has a NET of 88, has an ELO of 72, has a SOS of 161 and had a quad one record of 0-2. Miami did not play a game between December 12th when they beat Robert Morris and January 6th when they lost to Wake 47-46. Their game against Duke on December 19th was canceled while their games against North Florida and Virginia have been postponed.

From Nolan, State has an overall record of 13-2, has a conference record of 4-0, has a Live RPI of 2, has a NET of 2, has an ELO of 4, has an SOS of 3 and has a quad one record of 4-2. State's most satisfying win for State fans was the 72-45 beat down of UNC while State's best win was that at Indiana, a 66-58 win.

Because the game date and time has been changed, predictions for the game might not be as they would be absent this change. Anyway, Nolan likes State 72-56. From Her Hoops Stats, Lobo's Look, State with the game at Miami, has a 94.6% chance of a win and by a score of 74.7 to 54.9. From Her Hoop Stats Ratings, State's value and rank are 43.5 and 2/356, State's offensive value and rank are 117.2 and 2/356, and State's defensive value and rank are 73.7 and 6/356. Miami's ratings are for value and rank 9.6 and 96/356, Miami's offensive rating value and rank are 94 and 124/356, and Miami's defensive rating value and rank are 84.3 and 62/356.

Quick change for State and Miami with regard to whom and where they are playing Sunday. State was to play at Notre Dame and Miami was to play at Louisville. Miami gets to stay home while State travels to Miami instead of to South Bend. State should win this one but maybe not easily as Miami in the past has been a thorn in State's side with unexpected losses at Miami in 2014, at home in 2017 and at Miami in 2018. And then there was that squeaker in Raleigh in 2019 when State trailed 38-30 at the half but managed to win 70-68.
