From Rhode Island's women's basketball website:

The Rams, coming off a share of the first 2022-23 A-10 Regular Season Championship in program history, also had four players featured on the Preseason All-Conference Teams.

Senior Mayé Touré, the 2022-23 Most Improved Player of the Year, earned a spot on the Preseason All-Conference First Team, while Syracuse transfer Teisha Hyman's stats from her season last year with the Orange placed her on the All-Conference Second Team. Senior Tenin Magassa was named to the All-Conference Third Team for the second straight year, and sophomore Anaelle Dutat turned in an impressive rookie season to earn a spot on the All-Defensive Team.

In Rhode Island's last game, a 67-56 win over Brown, the Rams started six-two senior Mayé Touré, six-foot junior Sophie Phillips, six-five senior Tenin Magassa, five-eight grad student Dee Dee Davis and five-eight grad student Teisha Hyman who transferred from Syracuse. I watched some of the Brown/Rhode Island game via ESPN+. In view of what I saw, I would not be surprised to see State win by 30. Look for Laci Steele, Zoe Brooks, Mallory Collier and Maddie Cox to get extended minutes.

I also in the last few days have watched the Davidson win over Duke and the Maryland loss to UConn who was without Azzi Fudd. Azzi has injured her knee for the 3rd straight season. I feel bad for her. As for Jakia in that UConn game, she looked much like she did for us last season shooting 4-17 from the floor and 2-6 from the arc.

Note that Davidson almost upset UNC Sunday night losing 74-70. Elle Sutphin had 17 in the UNC loss and 19 in the 69-62 win over Duke. With the loss of Elizabeth Balogun, Celste Taylor and Shayeann Day-Wilson, Duke is not quite the team they were last season. So, SAD!

Go Pack!!!
