NC State Gets the Better of Boston College in Overtime 84-78

The Pack gets a tough road win

NCAA Basketball: N.C. State at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Game Summary:

The Pack badly needed to recover from consecutive losses and did it the hard way, by winning an ACC road game - in overtime. The Pack led about 37 minutes of regulation, and by as many as 11 points at one time, but as ACC games often do, it came down to the last few possessions. Boston College tied it with a couple of minutes left, and although the Pack got the turnover we needed, we could not convert the final shot. Nobody slowed down in overtime, there were 26 total points scored. The Pack shot 3 of 4 from 3PT, including one by Mo Diarra (No! No! Yes!), and made 7 of 8 from the free throw line to close it out.

BC 50.5 15 29.5 26.8

Overall Takeaways

  • Excellent defensive game plan to keep Quinten Post from taking over the game. Mo Diarra had the assignment and kept him from hitting a FG in the first half. As great players do, he adjusted and had an outstanding second half, but was held scoreless in overtime. Overall he was held below his scoring and rebounding averages.
