With the travesty that was Terquavion Smith going undrafted, Dennis Smith revitalizing his career on the defensive side of the ball, and the continued hope that TJ Warren will find the right fit to prolong his career I think we sometimes forget that Dereon Seabron was also (ridiculously) undrafted and has played very well in the G-League for the Pelicans. Whether it be because of his low key demeanor or that his breakout year came during one of our worst seasons ever…I genuinely think Seabron isn’t highlighted enough by State fans. We’ve been checking in with Terquavion quite a bit but have missed out on a near flawless performance from Seabron, one that ensures he’ll either have a continued place in the Pels organization or someone else where in the NBA will be paying for his services. After a forgettable game one, the 2nd year pro went 8-11 from the field, 9-13 from the line for 25 points. He added in 7 boards and 3 assists along with ending the game with the highest +/- at +21. Year 2 is very often a "put up or shut up" kind of year for undrafted guys on two-ways but seeing as the Pels seem open to giving such players opportunities…the hope has to be that Dereon continues to have nights similar to last one.
