NC State found its offense at the right time, nearly scoring as many points in overtime as it did in the entire fourth quarter, and in the process was able to hold off a tough Florida State team’s upset bid.

This was a tight one pretty much throughout, as the Wolfpack had to work around a quiet night from three and an ankle injury to River Baldwin.

FSU was game to match the Pack run for run, at least until State canned a couple threes in the extra period to help secure the win. Aziaha James’ three with 3:36 left pushed the lead to four, and the Pack was able to keep it a multi-possession game the rest of the way.

FSU 80 86 93.0 102.3
NC State 88 86 102.3 93.0

It was an even game, with NC State rebounding a bit better and shooting inside the arc a bit better, and the Wolfpack knocked down its free throws in the late stages of overtime.

Baldwin led all Wolfpack scorers with 21 points on 10-14 shooting against her former school, and we’ll just have to hope that her ankle injury isn’t serious. I think it’s been a nagging problem for a while, unfortunately. Wes Moore didn’t have any additional information after the game.

Up next for the still-undefeated Pack is a trip to Blacksburg on Sunday, and that one will be especially tough if Baldwin can’t play, as Virginia Tech features two-time reigning ACC POY Liz Kitley in the middle.
