Week 10 Football: What to Watch

A look at games that might pique your interest

FSU v NC St X Robinson
Ray Robinson hits the open field vs Florida State during NC State’s 2001 win in Tallahassee

Week 10 of the 2021 college football season starts early as MACtion gets into full force. As you’ll see below, there are a ton of games listed for this week, but five of those are Tuesday and Wednesday MAC games.

NC State, meanwhile, heads to Tallahassee for a midday Saturday game. This is the 20 year anniversary of the first time NC State knocked off Florida State in an ACC game at Doak Campbell Stadium. Man, that’s hard to believe. For those of you who remember, the Wolfpack knocked off the Seminoles, 34-28, behind Ray Robinson’s 145 scrimmage yards and 2 TDs.

On to the games!

As mentioned, Tuesday and Wednesday is a bunch of MACtion, with all the games oddly at the same time. The Wednesday games will likely be better than those on Tuesday, but at least that’s something to do before Game 6 of the World Series starts.

Thursday looks like a gross night for football - and how couldn’t it be with the Jets playing - but Georgia State has been on a bit of a hot streak lately and almost knocked off Auburn earlier this year. I’m still taking Louisiana in that one.

Friday! Yes. Now here we go! VT @ BC will be interesting and Stanford is good enough to hang with Utah, advanced metric ratings aside.

Last week was a boring Saturday noon slate, but this week is thankfully different. Army and Air Force will kick things off early in a game that should be highly entertaining - and sure to be better than watching the end of College Gameday.

UNC finally gets to see a Top 10 team play in Chapel Hill this week. Go Wake Forest!

Hugh Freeze returns to Oxford as he leads Liberty in a game against his old program, Ole Miss. Hopefully Freeze leaves the cell phone in Lynchburg for this one.

In the mid-day slate, check out that Auburn-Texas A&M game... at least until the NC State game starts 30 minutes later. Mississippi State vs Arkansas also looks to be an incredibly good match-up, if you want to go three strong on the TVs this weekend.

The primetime game I’m most interested in is Clemson-Louisville, although it won’t move the needle nationally at all. Also intrigued to see whether SP+ or Sagarin are right with respect to the Tennessee-Kentucky game.

The late night games feature... what is that?! UTEP featured twice now on this rundown? Can’t be!

Anyways, the late night games are just more football for your eyeballs as you nod off on the couch from a full day of sitting on the couch watching football. Good for you. Good for us.
