Week 3 Football: What to Watch

A look at games that might pique your interest

Hey, there! Welcome back for another week of football! Hopefully your soul wasn’t crushed last weekend. And if it was, hopefully you’ve rebounded quickly and are ready to get hurt again!

Thursday night... meh. Don’t forget to set your fantasy football lineups, and then go about your evening.

Louisville is probably going to get their tails handed to them by Gus Malzahn’s UCF squad on Friday night, but who knows, maybe Scott Satterfield’s group aren’t as bad as they’ve seemed. And Go Fighting Berts!

There are actually a lot of really good games throughout Saturday, so the tailgate should be fantastic.

Nebraska and Oklahoma is a great matchup, had this game been played 20 years ago. Cincy-Indy and VT-WVU are the two games I have circled in that noon slot. Michigan State vs Miami just sounds boring.

Of course in that mid-day slot of games, everyone’s going to want to watch Alabama-Florida. The line has Bama as a 14.5-point favorite, but SP+ projects at 33-26 game. We’ll have to see.

Georgia Tech vs Clemson and FSU vs Wake is also in that 3:30pm slate. FSU-Wake is very intriguing to me. SP+ says it’s going to be a nail-biter, while Sagarin says Wake should crush Florida State. Clemson’s going to kill GT.

Mississippi State plays Memphis, too, if you didn’t get your fill of cowbells and cows*** last week.

In case you’re looking for a second game to track in the evening, look no further than Auburn at Penn State. That one should be an awesome game.

Go UVA!

Later on Saturday night, OK State vs Boise is about as close of a match-up as you can get by both advanced metrics. It’s another one that should be fun. And speaking of fun, we get a bevy of late night games this week, including the San Jose State at Hawaii game that doesn’t technically kickoff until Sunday morning.
