NC State travels to Boston College this weekend for a matchup against what might be the worst baseball team in ACC history. I write that knowing that I tempt NC State Shit, because that is how bad the Eagles are. BC has scored a total of 27 runs in 14 conference games and has an ERA of 7.00 in league play. Conference foes are hitting a combined .339/.422/.493 against the Eagles.
Boston College | AVG | OBP | SLG | Runs/G |
Overall | .207 | .294 | .281 | 3.1 |
ACC Games | .174 | .262 | .226 | 1.9 |
Matt Pare is hitting .294/.368/.529 in conference games with a pair of home runs; no one else on the team is slugging over .300. BC has 17 extra-base hits in league play.
Baseball is a strange and uniquely random animal among sports, so if Boston College was to pick up its first conference win of the year this weekend, I wouldn't be completely shocked. But the utter lack of depth on the BC roster makes a series victory a near-certainty, and a sweep likely.
