Tell me about this team

I’m not gonna lie to you. I was 99% sure the Tuesday game was going to be cancelled or moved due to the snow on Monday, so I kinda dismissed doing the preview thinking that I’d have time to get it up by Wednesday’s game. Welp, way to go, me. Good job.

Anyways, this preview is going to be very light because of that. Apologies, y’all.

As for Asheville, they’re a team that made a noticeable jump in the RPI from 2016 to 2017 when they went from atrocious to just bad, but so far in 2018 they’ve regressed slightly. They did play a surprisingly close series against Florida State in Tallahassee despite getting swept, losing two games of those games by a total of three runs, so the team obviously has some talent and can play with the big boys. They also played Boston College in a mid-week game last week and lost 8-0, so...

Key Players:

Offense

SS Carmine Pagano (JR) - .305 BA, .364 OBP, .407 SLG, 59 AB, 3 2B, 0 3B, 1 HR, 7 R, 6 RBI, 6 BB, 10 K, 1-4 SB in 2018. This is a team light on hitting and Pagano is the only one routinely hitting well for the Bulldogs this year.

Pitching

RHP Danny Wilson (JR) - 0-1, 9.82 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, .444 OBA, 7.1 IP, 16 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 1 BB, 1 K in 2018. Wilson is getting the start on Tuesday for UNC-Asheville. He’s not had a great year.

Quick! Fun Facts!

Ha! I didn’t have time for this. Maybe I’ll add some here for Wednesday, but don’t bank on it.

Prediction

State takes both games of the mid-week series, 10-2 and 11-1.
