Thayer Thomas has been added to the NC State Baseball roster. Thomas, a wide receiver on the football team and former three-sport athlete (football, baseball, basketball) at nearby Heritage (Wake Forest, NC) High School, is now listed as an outfielder after having participated with the Wolfpack in the team’s initial practices and scrimmages of the year.

The outfield position group is a relatively thin one this year following the graduation of all three OF starters from a year ago, so Thomas could add some much needed depth there, even if it takes him a while to get back into baseball form.

There were indications that Alim McNeill, the freshman Defensive Tackle from the NC State football team, would be a two-sport athlete for the Wolfpack by also joining the baseball team, but he has not yet been added to the roster. McNeill was a power hitting OF in his prep days at local Sanderson High School in Raleigh.

NCAA rules limit roster sizes to 35 players, so Head Coach Elliott Avent and staff have some decisions to make in the next couple weeks as the roster now sits at 38 following the addition of Thomas.
