The full NCAA college baseball tournament won’t be announced until noon Monday afternoon, but the committee announced its 16 regional hosts on Sunday night. NC State was not among them.
State’s position was tenuous heading into the ACC tournament, and going 1-2 in Durham didn’t help matters. Nor did North Carolina winning the thing—the Tar Heels leaped back ahead of the Pack and secured a hosting spot in the process.
NC State will be a two-seed somewhere, now we just have to wait and see. Baseball America projected the Wolfpack to Ole Miss on Sunday—the Rebels had a good SEC tournament run and ended up with one of the last hosting spots. Baseball America has Ole Miss as the last team to get a regional and NC State as the first team on the cut line.
In addition to UNC, Louisville and Georgia Tech also earned hosting spots out of the ACC.
The NCAA baseball selection show is on ESPNU at noon.
