With a month to go before the college baseball season gets underway in Raleigh, NC State has earned spots in a couple of preseason top-25 polls. And yes, the Wolfpack will be good again, which is usually a safe bet—but good enough to get past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament? That’s the real question.
NC State is ranked No. 21 in the Perfect Game preseason top 25, one of seven ACC teams to make the cut. Louisville is the preseason No. 1, with Miami at No. 7, Duke at No. 11, Florida State at No. 14, UNC at No. 17, and Virginia at No. 25.
The D1Baseball poll (which is more trustworthy, I think) has State at No. 16 to start the season. Those guys also have Louisville as their preseason No. 1. In addition to Miami, Duke, FSU, and UNC, they have Wake Forest and Georgia Tech ranked, while UVA is outside the top 25. So it’s going to be a deep league, in other words.
