BTP The Offseason, Day 76: Imagining the college baseball postseason that could have been

Zach Wheat Scoring in World Series Game

We have reached the projecting-the-canceled-NCAA-baseball-tournament portion of the offseason. The field for the real thing would have been announced on Monday, so D1Baseball took a shot at what it would’ve looked like.

They have NC State as a regional host and the No. 12 overall seed and matched up with UGA’s regional for the super regional round. Michigan, Tennessee, and NC A&T round out the hypothetical Raleigh Regional, and that would have been fun—Michigan was the national runner up in 2019.

I feel like State was gonna get off the schneid and win its regional this season, mostly because the program finally had a bonafide ace for the first time since Carlos Rodon. Figures it takes a half decade to find another elite starter only to have the season end up canceled and the opportunity lost.

In other news, you can watch Dave Doeren’s appearance on the Charlotte Observer’s Talking Preps program right here. And apparently Ty Lawson has some serious beef with Roy Williams.
