NC State (finally) releases 2021 Baseball schedule

Non-conference schedule features VMI, UNCG, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, UNCW, App State, NC A&T, and Elon

At long last, NC State has finally releasee the full 2021 baseball schedule.

Well, check that - there are just 49 games on the schedule, which would allow for an additional seven games to be added to the schedule.

The ACC portion of the schedule was previously known, but now we get a full(er) look at the non-conference slate:

NC State will open the season with 11 consecutive home games, kicking off with the season-opening series against VMI. The Keydets were just 4-13 in 2020 with an RPI ranking of 295 (out of 301 teams). They did play Virginia (3-4 L), UNC (2-9 L), and James Madison (2-4 L), a team that NC State opened up last year by sweeping in Raleigh.

With an expanded conference schedule this year, that matchup with VMI will mark the only weekend non-conference series for the Wolfpack... at least for now.

The rest of the non-conference schedule includes home-and-home mid-week matchups with UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Wilmington, and Appalachian State, as well as home games against Campbell, NC A&T, and Elon, and an away game with Coastal Carolina.

Below are the 2020 records and RPI rankings for each 2021 non-conference opponent:

NC State currently has an opening the weekend of May 7-9.

There are also currently no mid-week games between the Miami (March 5-7) and Duke (March 12-14) series, the Notre Dame (April 16-18) and Virginia Tech (April 23-25) series, or the Pittsburgh (May 14-16) and Florida State (May 20-22) series.
