NC State holds steady in NCAA regional projections

The NCAA regional picture hasn’t changed for NC State after the last week, which is not surprising given that the Wolfpack didn’t have a weekend series. D1Baseball’s latest projections still put NC State in East Carolina’s regional as the three-seed. (With South Carolina as the two-seed.)

And the Wolfpack is still at least five spots clear of the at-large cut line, in D1Baseball’s estimation.

Despite not playing any conference games last weekend, NC State jumped Clemson in the Atlantic Division standings because the Tigers were swept by Georgia Tech. The Tigers have a series this weekend at third-place Florida State, which is 1.5 games ahead of the Pack.

At this point it feels unlikely that NC State will catch and surpass the Noles, but the Pack has two weekends to bolster its resume with series against Pitt and FSU, both of which are currently projected by D1 as regional hosts.

State just needs to avoid a disaster at this point (i.e., getting swept in a series) and I would think a 3-3 finish would allow it to at least maintain its current positioning.
