Today is the first day of the early signing period in college basketball, and both members of NC State's 2013 class--forward Kyle Washington and guard Cat Barber--signed letters of intent, and they're now officially members of the Wolfpack. Washington made it official this morning, while Barber signed this evening.
Barber is the No. 11 player in Scout's top 100 and a likely McDonald's All-American. Washington is ranked No. 85 by Scout. (Other services have him a bit higher.) Additionally, it's expected that center BeeJay Anya will commit to the Pack on Friday; Anya is the No. 45 player in the class of 2013. Anya's addition would push State's class into the top 10 nationally and make it the top group in the ACC, according to Evan Daniels.
In other recruiting news, top forward prospect Julius Randle is set to take a visit to NC State on Jan. 26 for the Carolina game. State is battling Florida and Texas, among others, for Randle, who obviously is going to sign late in the process. This is from his most recent blog post for USA Today:
I think I probably talk to coaches from Kentucky, Texas and Florida the most. I talk to N.C. State a good amount too.
Right now, that's the next visit I have scheduled on January 26 when they play North Carolina. I can't wait for that. I know it's gonna be live down there. I'll tell you right now, I've got N.C. State winning that all day. The Wolfpack looks tough this season.
Good timing since that's when the PNC Arena atmosphere will be at its best.
