NC State Basketball Recruiting: Julius Randle Calls NC State Visit His Best Yet

Grant Halverson

Among the recruits in Raleigh this past weekend was 2013 power forward Julius Randle, who is one of the elite players in his class. NC State obviously needs plenty of frontcourt help in 2013 and beyond, which is something that's helped keep the Pack in the mix with Randle. He's good friends with Rodney Purvis, which doesn't hurt either. And he had a great visit, thanks in large part to the win over Carolina and the great atmosphere that came with it.

He likes the fact that NC State wouldn't need to make any changes to its offense integrate him:

I think the biggest thing I learned over the weekend was that if I came there they wouldn't have to change anything about their system for me. It just fits me. Other coaches talk about what they'll change for me, but with State they don't have to do that. That's big.

All in all, I'd have to say that this was my best visit so far.

He still has visits to Texas and Kansas ahead of him, but it is encouraging to hear him call his visit to NC State better than his trip to Kentucky. Randle said recently that he'd like to pick a school after the high school basketball season is over, which would be February or March. I don't know how this is gonna pan out, but Julius, just remember that we need tall people and you would play 30 minutes a night next year okay thx bye.
