Box Score

The game was painfully close for more than 30 minutes, but NC State was finally able to assert control on the scoreboard and pull away from Georgia Tech. After the game was tied at 55 with about eight minutes remaining, the Pack went on a 17-5 run to take a 72-60 lead with a bit more than three minutes to go. Scott Wood hit a couple of threes during that stretch, and Lorenzo Brown was crucial as well.

Once again, NC State didn't get a lot of scoring from a couple of its usuals--Richard Howell was just 3-8 from the field, and T.J. Warren missed the only shot he took in 24 minutes on the floor. But Brown and Calvin Leslie finished a combined 16-27 from the field, while Wood hit four threes to go with six free throws. Rodney Purvis added 13, and his lone three came as State pulled away down the stretch. So once again, NC State didn't need everybody clicking, and that's always encouraging to see.

Georgia Tech hadn't allowed any opponent to score as efficiently as NC State did tonight--only three teams managed to crack a point per possession against the Jackets prior to this game. So it was a very good effort overall by the Pack at the offensive end; it's impressive how this team can just go out and get 45+ in a half when it wants to.
