Dennis Smith Jr., who is a consensus five-star prospect in the 2016 class and a major NC State target, is down to six schools. As Newclass mentioned this morning, those six are NC State, Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, Kentucky, and Louisville.
Smith also expressed some interest in playing football at the next level, no doubt to the horror of the college hoops coaches recruiting him. The odds of that happening seem low, but it's not like he's never been on a football field before.
Lowkey wanna play football next season and in college

Talked to Dennis Smith about playing both hoop & football. He’s serious, but not 100 percent. Has spoken to assistants about possibility.

Smith plays CB — and said he’s spoken to North Carolina, N.C. State and Wake about possibility already. "I believe I could do it," he said.

A guy playing both sports is hardly unprecedented, though it does seem especially uncommon for such a highly-ranked basketball player. Only guy who comes to mind is Ronald Curry, who was a McDonald's All-American. (And actually ended up having a much better career on the football field.)
Anyway, now that Smith has a list of finalists, and with his AAU teammate Bam Bam Adebayo looking to make a decision before his senior season starts, it'll be interesting to see if Smith's timeline changes at all.
