The Wolfpack were a favorite of the 7'1 Greek big man when it came to colleges, but the allure of getting paid to the play the game was apparently too much for Georgios Papagiannis to pass up. He elected to stay in the Greek league today, and continue to play for Panathinaikos, which is his professional team. The skilled center likely would've started for the Pack, and added a much needed inside scoring threat, but State will have to make it work with the trio of Abu, Anya, and Freeman.
Georgios Papagiannis will stay in Greece & pursue a professional career, a source told Scout. N.C. State, Kentucky & St. John's were on him.

Can confirm Georgios Papagiannis opting to stay in Greece, won't play college basketball. NC State was in pursuit of his services

The Pack was hoping to add the skilled big man and 4-star small forward Maverick Rowan to this year's team, which would have been quite the finish to this recruiting class, especially considering how late it is already. Now all attention turns to Rowan, who will be watched by the coaches this week at the Nike Peach Jam in South Carolina. This is State's last chance to add another player for this coming season.
