Wisconsin is out of the running for elite wing Maverick Rowan, who on Thursday told ESPN's Jeff Borzello that his new top four includes West Virginia (?), Louisville, NC State, and St. John's. I guess the news of Bo Ryan's impending retirement cost the Badgers in this one.
Rowan is attempting to reclassify from 2016 to 2015, and when we last checked in on his recruitment, he was planning to make a college choice in August. He was also planning visits at that point, which no longer appears to be the case. Louisville was thought to be finished with Rowan, and West Virginia seems to have swooped in out of nowhere. So, uh, yeah. That's recruiting.
Elsewhere, former St. John's big man Chris Obekpa is planning a visit to NC State this month, per Jon Rothstein. Obekpa already has taken a trip to Minnesota, though the Gophers aren't interested in signing him anymore. Arizona State and UNLV are also recruiting Obekpa, who will have one year to play after sitting out the 2015-16 season.
