Four-star wing Maverick Rowan commits to NC State

NC State's 2015 recruiting class got a huge boost on Sunday when Maverick Rowan committed to the Wolfpack. Rowan, who is a consensus four-star prospect, should see the court plenty this season, and adds to the Pack's depth and versatility on the wing.

Rowan's recruiting saga has been an interesting one, as he was initially a class of 2016 prospect before deciding this summer to reclassify to 2015. He was a one-time Pittsburgh commitment, but decommitted after his family moved from Pennsylvania to Florida.

Since that decommitment, he's been recruited hard by a bunch of power-conference programs--Florida, UCLA, UNC, Virginia, and on and on. Louisville, St. John's, and West Virginia were his finalists, along with NC State, and he had been looking at Wisconsin prior to Bo Ryan's retirement announcement.

Rowan is a consensus four-star prospect and top-40 player in this class; he is listed at 6'7 and 200 pounds by 247Sports. Since he's a talented jump shooter, he should relieve some pressure on the Pack in several areas, perhaps most importantly as extra depth in the backcourt.
