NC State got some good news on the recruiting front Monday with the verbal commitment of in-state guard Terquavion Smith, who is a rising junior and a member of the 2021 class. With it being so early in the 2021 recruiting process, State is Smith’s only power-conference offer at the moment, though that’ll certainly change.
Smith is listed at 6’3 and 180 pounds by 247Sports. He doesn’t have a ranking or star rating for 2021, but it’s still early for that. Here’s what his high school coach told Pack Pride about him:
“He’s super athletic and can play multiple positions in a guard system,” Williford said. “He can handle the ball and play the point, play off the ball and is a great transition defender. ... I don’t think there’s a better style of play in the country for what he does than playing under Coach Keatts.”
Smith is from Farmville, which I’ve just learned is a real place. The town is in ECU’s back yard, and he also has an offer from the Pirates. Some highlights from last year (Smith is No. 23):
