NC State added a second member to its 2022 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon with the verbal commitment of in-state guard LJ Thomas. Thomas earned an offer from the Wolfpack in June.

He’s listed at 6’2 and 190 pounds by 247Sports, which ranks him the No. 138 overall prospect in the ‘22 class, and a top-five player in North Carolina. Thomas has plenty of offers from power-conference programs, including Florida, Maryland, Auburn, USC, Mississippi, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech.
Here’s Rivals analyst Jamie Shaw on what Thomas brings to NC State:
Thomas is a score first type of guard, who fits in the pick and roll heavy style which Keatts likes to employ on offense. Thomas can really shoot the ball and he can score it at each level, he has great feel in that way.
NC State may have five guards figure into the rotation this upcoming season, but the team will lose Thomas Allen, and State definitely needs to add more shooting. LJ Thomas may not be a highlight-reel athlete, but he already possesses a good frame, and I think fit gets underrated in basketball recruiting sometimes.
