NC State among the numerous programs interested in Auburn transfer Justin Powell

NCAA Basketball: Texas Southern at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Now that NC State’s season is done, it is official transfer-watch season. As usual, the Wolfpack will be trying to make some additions through the portal.

Justin Powell only played in 10 games during his freshman season at Auburn, but that was enough time to show that he’s going to be a pretty good high-major player. After he announced his decision to transfer, he was contacted by seemingly every power-conference team in the country, NC State among them.

Powell shot 44.2% from three this season, and twice scored 26 points in a game. He has good size for a two-guard (6’6, 205), and he proved to be a pretty good distributor as well. He should be an instant-impact addition for his new school—and it’ll probably be tough to beat Kentucky or Louisville for the Kentucky-native.

NC State also reached out to Florida International transfer guard Antonio Daye a couple weeks ago, but I don’t know if State is still involved there. Daye is from Durham.
