Kevin Keatts has made another addition to NC State’s roster via the transfer portal, picking up a commitment from ex-Virginia guard Casey Morsell. Morsell has three more years of college eligibility if he wants them, and will be eligible right away.

He was a top-60 prospect in the 2019 class, though he has yet to develop into an impact scorer at the offensive end. At Virginia this past season, he saw his minutes diminish, which no doubt was a factor in his decision to leave Charlottesville. Still he improved his scoring average from 4.0 PPG to 4.4 PPG as a sophomore.

His jump shot still needs substantial improvement, but he did take a step forward last season: after shooting 38% from two and 18% from three as a freshman, he shot 47% and 26% in 2021, even while increasing his workload.

His best performance of the ‘21 season came against Notre Dame in January, when he scored 15 points on 6-7 shooting. He was 0-6 with zero points in two games against the Wolfpack.
