ACC tournament open thread: It's never too early for preliminaries

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

I don't care if it is a bunch of cruddy teams playing; I'm always going to feel excited about the start of the conference tournament. Sure it's odd that this is beginning on a Wednesday now, and it's too bad that there will be hardly anyone in the building. But that's also how Thursdays had been looking, so there's no loss in that respect; there's just more basketball.

It's one-and-done time, so let's do this thing, because why the heck not? State will play the winner of the Miami-VT matchup, which is the second game of the day.

The Wednesday schedule for the ACC tournament:

1 p.m. ET --- No. 13 Notre Dame vs. No. 12 Wake Forest (winner gets Pittsburgh)

3:30 p.m. -- No. 10 Miami vs. No. 15 Virginia Tech (winner gets NC State)

7 p.m. -- No. 14 Boston College vs. No. 11 Georgia Tech (winner gets Clemson)

UPDATE! Thursday is now set:

Noon -- No. 8 Maryland vs. No 9. Florida State (winner gets UVA)

2:30ish p.m. -- No. 5 Pittsburgh vs. No. 12 Wake Forest (winner gets UNC)

7 p.m. -- No. 7 NC State vs. No. 10 Miami (winner gets Syracuse)

9:30ish p.m. -- No. 6 Clemson vs. No. 11 Georgia Tech (winner gets Duke)

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE! It's Friday Friday Friday
