T.J. Warren is in New York for the 2014 NBA Draft, which will get started Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. I think he's ready. NC State hasn't had a player taken in the first round since JJ Hickson went 19th to Cleveland in 2008, and Warren will be putting and end to that drought.
The consensus seems to be that Warren will end up in the 15-20 range of the first round, which means that Atlanta, Boston, Phoenix, Chicago are some of the teams to watch. ESPN's Chad Ford has Warren at No. 20 on his big board, and Draft Express has Warren going 15th to the Hawks. The Hornets have a pick at No. 24 but there are rumors that they're coveting Mitch McGary in that spot.
If the experts are right, Warren will already be of the board by the time the Hornets are up at 24, but I'll selfishly keep my fingers crossed that he ends up staying in North Carolina, an easy drive away. Not gonna happen, but I gotta dream my dream.
In any case, one franchise is guaranteed to come away from the draft looking brilliant, because that franchise will have T.J. Warren, while a bunch of other idiot-ass-lookin' teams won't.
(Feel free to use this as an open thread once the draft gets started.)
