Caleb Martin has surgery on foot, will miss 2-3 months

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Caleb Martin had surgery this weekend to repair a fracture in his right foot and is expected to miss 8-to-12 weeks while he recovers from the procedure, NC State announced Sunday afternoon. According to NCSU, Martin suffered the injury before he enrolled at State.

Assuming all goes well with the recovery process, Martin will be fine by the start of the season, but it's always a bummer when a guy has to miss that much development time. I'd imagine for first-year players that being able to work out with the rest of the team is particularly valuable.

But hey, could be worse, right? Always gotta remember that. He should be ready to go by the time practices start.

Caleb Martin is one part of a well-regarded freshman class that includes his twin brother Cody and big man Abdul-Malik Abu. All three were consensus four-star prospects out of high school, with Abu garnering the highest ranking of the bunch.
