The Cat did what the Cat do of late--score points. Barber's transformation into a leader at the offensive end was no more evident than it was on Wednesday night, when he asserted himself early and used the confidence earned there to take nearly every aspect of his game up a level.
Everything was clicking for Barber offensively, to the point where it seemed his free throw attempts were a foregone conclusion. He finished 12-12 from the stripe and 4-5 from beyond the arc. It was the best individual scoring effort by an NC State player in an ACC tournament game in a long time.
Barber's 34 points were the most in an ACC Tournament game by a State player since David Thompson had 38 in 1975 quarters vs. Virginia.

Heck, if this is Cat's opener, I can't see what he has in store for the rest of the week.
