NC State is safely in the NCAA tournament field right now, which shouldn't change no matter what happens in Greensboro, but it can't hurt to take one last look at the bubble picture. Also, welcome to championship week, everybody!
Several mid-majors punched their tickets over the weekend, though none qualify as bid thieves, much to the relief of the schools at the tail end of the at-large board. There was some drama in the Missouri Valley, where potential bid yoinker Illinois State jumped out to a big lead on Northern Iowa, but the Panthers rallied from double figures down in the second half to put that title game away.
As for the projections, the majority of them continue to show the Pack landing in the 7-to-10 seed range--beating Syracuse didn't provide any noticeable bump. Which is okay. Winning as damage prevention was the important thing.
Patrick Stevens has State at No. 27 on his at-large board, so in his judgment there are five teams between NC State and the "last four in" group at the tail end of the field. Stevens projects to the Wolfpack to land a 10-seed.
Jerry Palm has the Pack in as a nine, as does Joe Lunardi. Team Rankings ballparks the Pack's at-large odds at nearly 94%; that would fall to around 88% with a loss to Pittsburgh.
