It was not always pleasant, but always there were points. Good heavens the points. Wake and NC State went for 40+ in each half, but the Wolfpack finished with the 99-88 edge. Cat Barber scored a career-high 38 points, 30 of which came in the second half. Maverick Rowan finished with 20, and Caleb Martin had 18.

The game was back-and-forth from start to finish, as the game evolved into a duel between guards with hot hands. Barber finished the night 10-20 from the field and 17-20 from the free throw line (!), while Wake's Cody Miller-McIntyre had a long-due breakout performance with 24 points on 10-17 shooting.
It became more of a perimeter game in part because of the way the game was officiated. Wake's Dinos Mitoglou and John Collins fouled out; State's Abdul-Malik Abu, BeeJay Anya, and Lennard Freeman each finished with four fouls.
That's not to undersell the frontcourt performances; Wake's Devin Thomas grabbed 21 rebounds, and he is only one person. That is very good. Abu scored 11, grabbed six boards, and blocked four shots. Five of Abu's 11 points came helped give the Wolfpack some much-needed breathing room down the stretch.
If I am eye-balling the play-by-play correctly, then this was a two-possession game for like 30 consecutive minutes. That's a lot, and also it's exhausting. Cat Barber is really good. We won a game! Good job, everybody.
