Maverick Rowan hits 6 three-pointers as NC State beats Wake Forest, 75-72

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

I guess Maverick Rowan has been sandbaggin' on us for five months. Rowan broke out Tuesday to hit six three-pointers, several of which came during crunch time. He finished with 24 points to lead all scorers and push NC State past Wake Forest, 75-72.

It was a tight contest throughout, but Rowan's efficient shooting helped State build just enough of a cushion in the last five minutes. In the end, the Wolfpack needed one final defensive stand, and got an assist from Wake, which didn't have the most well-organized final possession one will ever see. The Deacs missed a couple of threes, and the Pack was on to Wednesday.

Cat Barber scored 22 points, though he struggled to score effectively inside the arc. As usual, he was money at the free throw line, and he dished out six assists. Abdul-Malik Abu scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Cody Martin scored six and grabbed nine rebounds.

NC State's next ACC tournament game will be against Duke at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
