NC State will play Campbell in a closed scrimmage warm-up for the regular season on Oct. 28, per Jeff Goodman. This will be the first taste of something approximating live action for Kevin Keatts’ Wolfpack.
College basketball teams are allowed an exhibition game prior to the start of the regular season, and they’re also allowed to scrimmage against another team, somewhat unofficially. These were once referred to as “secret scrimmages” since they were never publicly announced by the schools involved, but by now, everybody knows about all of them. So we can just call them what they are: closed scrimmages.
Campbell finished last season 19-18 overall and No. 279 in the Pomeroy Ratings, but Campbell does still have scoring machine Chris Clemons, who is an undersized point guard that can fill it up from anywhere. He alone will be a good challenge for State and its new pressure defense, since he is definitely better than a lot of power-conference guards.
