BeeJay Anya did not travel with NC State to Tallahassee for Wednesday night’s game against Florida State, as the N&O’s Joe Giglio reports. A “disciplinary issue at practice” is the reason for this decision, not an injury.
I hate seeing internal issues like this bubble over but when your team is losing and you aren’t playing, this stuff happens.
Anya has played little and had minimal impact of late but probably could have been useful for some minutes against Florida State’s enormous, deep front line. There’s more pressure now on Malik Abu, Ted Kapita, and Omer Yurtseven to avoid early foul trouble, and, well, we all know how that tends to go.
Should be interesting (or comical?) to see how State attempts to match up defensively, regardless, since there are clearly some individual spots at which the Pack is at a severe disadvantage, with or without Anya available.
Shaun Kirk also did not travel with the team as he works through the concussion protocol.
