NC State is meeting with Kevin Keatts today, according to a report from Jon Rothstein at CBS Sports. Keatts, according to the report, is the Wolfpack’s top target. His UNC-Wilmington team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament by Virginia on Thursday.
Keatts, who just completed his third season as head coach at Wilmington, led the Seahawks to two consecutive NCAA appearances and has a 72-28 overall record as their head coach. The former Louisville assistant quickly turned UNCW into one of the elite programs in the CAA, and while his lack of head coaching experience will be concerning for some, the speed with which he turned around that program is impressive.

If news of this meeting is going public now, I would have to think that indicates that State and Keatts are close to a deal. If so, Debbie Yow likely picked Keatts over VCU’s Will Wade.
