Dennis Smith is an athletic freak. I know this, you know it; we watched him put in on display throughout the college basketball season. NBA teams are beginning to learn it the hard way. Twice now in four Vegas Summer League games he’s missed ridiculous dunk attempts in traffic. He’s gonna connect sooner rather than later.
He did this on Thursday night:
We know he missed it...but incase YOU missed it...@Dennis1SmithJr #MavsSL17 pic.twitter.com/EgR6NPRGq2

There’s no words. Fran Fraschilla has none—he just cackles in glee for like 20 seconds after this ridiculously ambitious attempt. Mark Jones’ call is perfect, too: “THE AUDACITY OF DENNIS SMITH!” I mean, if he had finished this, everyone in that entire building would have fainted. Just look at the reactions from John Collins and Donovan Mitchell afterward.
Nobody should be doubting DSJ’s bounce after the knee injury, but if there were any doubts left, man they’re toast now. Kinda like Justin Jackson, who attempted to check Smith at the beginning of the play. This kid can fly.
